OTA Accreditation & Program Outcomes

CMU accepted its final Associate of Applied Science OTA Cohort in Spring 2020.

CMU is currently Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE), for a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) degree. This degree educates students to work under the supervision and in cooperation with an occupational therapist (OT) to help people across the lifespan engage in the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of everyday activities called occupations.

This major prepares you to work in various settings that include hospitals, rehabilitation centers, schools, sub-acute facilities, psychiatric and community-based programs, schools, nursing homes, private practice and other emerging practice areas.

Students may be admitted to CMU to complete general education and OTA prerequisite courses. Students interested in the CMU OTA program may formally apply for the Fall Cohort.

OTA Bachelors Level Program Outcomes

*No students taken for the Fall 2022 cohort, therefore there were no graduates in 2024

Accreditation Requirements

A felony conviction may affect a graduate's ability to sit for the NBCOT certification examination or attain state licensure.

Students must complete all graduation and fieldwork requirements in a timely manner. Students are required to complete Level II fieldwork within 18 months following completion of the didactic portion of the program.
