3 + 2 Track Curriculum
The 3 + 2 M.S.A.T. degree program allows students to complete a Master of Science in Athletic Training degree in combination with the B.S. in Exercise Science in only 5 years (3 pre-professional years plus 2 professional years leading to two separate degrees). This enrollment option is designed for the traditional residential college student interested in a liberal arts experience combined with professional education in athletic training.
The B.S. in Exercise Science will be granted in December of the 4th year of study; however, students will have completed all general education, most exercise science major requirements, and science pre-requisites by the end of the 3rd year of study (100 credits). The remaining 20 credits required to earn the B.S. degree will be earned through graduate level courses in athletic training taken in the summer between the 3rd and 4th year and during the fall of the 4th year of study.

** Counts towards Exercise Science degree requirements
- • Free elective credits: none
- • Requirements for Thesis, Internship or other Capstone experience: Three credit hours in AT569 research methods (Capstone Project) will count toward degree. Formal presentation of the project is required. The paper must be approved by the student's advisor and program director before degree is granted.
- • Any unique features such as interdepartmental cooperation: The BS degree utilized will be a Pre-AT option of the existing Exercise Science Degree. Students will complete the general education coursework by the end of the 3rd year spring semester (100 hours). The remaining 24 hours required to complete the BS degree in exercise science will be earned by taking graduate courses in athletic training taken in the summer between the 3rd and 4th year and during the fall of the 4th year of study. CAATE standards require all Athletic Training content courses to be taught at graduate level.
- • Students who don't meet the requirements to enter the MSAT program can finish exercise science degree provided they meet those requirements. Students who don't qualify for entrance into MSAT by deficiency will have the opportunity to satisfy the deficiency and re-apply upon successful completion but will not be allowed to matriculate into MSAT program.
- • If student did not get into MSAT program, would have to complete courses below for exercise science degree.
