Temporary Authorization Certificate
Central Methodist University's Temporary Authorization Program assists prospective teachers who have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, in the subject area to be taught or a closely related field, obtain certification to teach in a school district in the state of Missouri. Prospective teachers must have a GPA of 2.75 or greater prior to receiving their Temporary Certification. CMU's program can assist in acquiring the one-year Temporary Certificate which will lead to obtaining Missouri's entry level professional teaching certificate, the Initial Professional Certificate. These prospective teachers will already have a teaching contract with a Missouri school district.
After admission process is complete, a Plan of Study will be developed which will include the necessary class work. The required courses are designed to meet the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's required competency areas for alternative certification. Full explanations of the Temporary Authorization Certificate can be found on the DESE website.
