Major Field Test

Major field tests are a comprehensive undergraduate and MBA outcome assessment designed to measure the critical knowledge and understanding obtained by students in a major field of study.

The results are used to meet requirements for accreditation and evaluate teaching and learning to help improve and strengthen curricula and student learning outcomes.

Students pursuing the following degrees are required to complete the major field test to graduate:

  • Accounting – (Business MFT)
  • Biology (including environmental science and marine biology)
  • Business
  • Chemistry
  • Criminal justice
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Political science
  • Psychology

The capstone classes included for this requirement are:

  • SC425
  • SC464
  • SC468
