For Faculty
About the Testing Center
The Testing Office is located in the Center for Learning & Teaching, Cupples Hall/Smiley Library on the first floor, Room 101. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The testing coordinator can be reached by phone: 660.248.6890 (x54890) or email: clttest@centralmethodist.edu.
Our Testing Office offers testing services for students with accommodations, students that have missed an exam, ACT On-Campus, Math Placement, Credit by Exam, and miscellaneous specialized testing as needed or approved.
We also coordinate and proctor the major field tests each semester for biology, business, chemistry, criminal justice, mathematics, political science, and psychology.
Currently, we have four testing rooms. All testing rooms are equipped with cameras that allow proctors to remotely monitor activity in the testing room. The security system allows staff to zoom in, take a screen shot, playback, and create video clips for documentation when necessary. All testing room computers are equipped with software that allows CLT staff to unobtrusively monitor computer activity. This program mirrors the student’s computer allowing the testing coordinator/proctor to monitor computer and internet activity. If inappropriate activity is observed or suspected, the program allows the proctor to lock and control the computer screen.
Exams and proctor forms received are kept in a secure area prior to and after the completion of the exam.
It is our goal to assist both students and faculty with any testing needs outside the classroom and to administer exams with accuracy and integrity.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
Students Scheduling an Exam
Students should schedule exams at least two business days prior to the desired testing date/time. Exceptions to this rule depend on faculty willingness to provide Proctor Form and exam on short notice and availability of time, staff, and a testing room in the Center for Learning & Teaching.
Students are welcome to schedule exams by stopping by the Testing Office, located on the first floor of the library (Cupples Hall), from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday or via email, clttest@centralmethodist.edu. If scheduling via email, the student needs to provide the following information:
- Student name
- Student ID#
- Confirmation of permission from professor/instructor
- Name of professor/instructor
- Reason for taking the exam, i.e. accommodation, completing early, make-up, retake, etc.
- Course name
- Course number
- Length of the exam
- Days and times available
When a testing appointment is scheduled, a calendar invitation notice is sent to both the student and faculty. Both student and faculty are asked to ‘Accept’ the invitation to confirm the appointment. If for any reason faculty does not agree with the scheduled appointment, they are welcome to ‘Decline’ the appointment or suggest another day/time. If declining, faculty should communicate the reason with the student and CLT testing coordinator.
Faculty should submit a completed proctor form and exam. If you have multiple students needing to take the same exam/quiz in the Center, you may put all names on one form.
Testing Accommodations
Students wanting to obtain testing accommodations must complete the Initial Intake Form and provide documentation supporting the need for accommodations. This process is done through the Disability Services Office Coordinator.
Students granted testing accommodations are automatically allowed to schedule and take exams/quizzes in the Center for Learning & Teaching (CLT). It is the student’s responsibility to:
- Communicate this with their professor/instructor;
- Work with them to utilize the accommodations granted;
- Schedule an appointment with the Testing Office.
Students with testing accommodations are required to take the exam at the same time as the class. An exception to this policy is if the student is approved for extended time for testing and the student’s class schedule does not allow the extended for testing. When this happens, the faculty, student, and CLT Testing Coordinator should work together to find an acceptable time for testing.
Students with no accommodations
Students with no accommodations must obtain permission from their professor/instructor to take an exam in the Center. Once permission is obtained, it is the student’s responsibility to schedule the exam with the Testing Office, within the faculty’s required time frame for completion.
Proctor Form
A completed proctor form, submitted by faculty, is required for students to take an exam in the Testing Center. This document is vital to properly proctoring the exam. The critical information needed on a proctor form includes:
- Student name
- Name of faculty/instructor
- Phone/cell number to get ahold of faculty if there is an issue with the exam
- Class name and course number
- Time allowed for the exam
- If the exam is online or on paper
- What materials and/or resources are allowed
- How the exam is to be returned** (if on paper)
**Delivery is only available when the CLT has an office work-study. Delivery time/date is subject to the office work-study schedule.
The completed proctor form can be delivered to the Testing Office or sent by email to clttest@centralmethodist.edu.
If you have multiple students needing to take the exam/quiz in the Center, you are welcome to put all names on one form.
