GENERAL SUMMARY:
Smiley Memorial Library at Central Methodist University seeks applicants for a Graduate Assistant for the 2026 Spring semester.
This is a 20 hours/week, 10-month position renewable for up to two years pending an annual reviewing process. The position includes a full tuition waiver and a stipend. Position begins January 2026.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
80% – Supervise and manage the library’s work study staff.
20% – Assist the instructional librarian to promote digital and informational literacy as well as general student engagement (social media communications, programming, etc.)
Perform other duties as assigned.
MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Will manage and supervise a team of 9+ work study students. This includes hiring, scheduling, evaluating performance, etc., as well as performing basic timesheet functions. This position supervises library functions during some evening hours.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree required.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Must be able to work 3-4 nights a week and/or weekends.
Must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
Must be accepted into the CMU Graduate program
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to push a full book cart.
Must be able to speak in a clear voice.
