GENERAL SUMMARY:
Central Methodist University seeks applicants for a Graduate Assistant in Student Life for the 2025–2026 school year. This position will assist the Office of Student Life in coordinating student activities, the Philips-Robb Recreation Center, and other departmental needs. This is a 5-month position renewable for up to two years pending an annual reviewing process. Position includes a full tuition waiver and a $2,500 stipend to live on campus or a $3,750 stipend to live off campus. Position begins January 2, 2025.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
40% – Assist with scheduling and facilitating Intramural & Club Sports
30% – Assist with the daily operations of the Philips-Robb Recreation Center
15% – Assist with organization & planning with Student Government Association for Student Activities
10% – Assist with Institutional Special Events such as Eagle Connect and Guest Lecturers
5% – Assist with promoting all campus-wide events
Perform other duties as assigned
MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will assist in the oversight of work study students for intramural sports, student activities, and the
Philips-Robb recreation Center.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree is required and acceptance into the Central Methodist’s Graduate Degree Program.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to assist with all setup and cleanup of Student Life programs
- Must be actively working/planning during scheduled office hours
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must be prompt and ready to assist with planning campus-wide programs.
- Must be able to use Microsoft Office
- Public speaking abilities
- Ability to provide customer service to our students, faculty, staff & community
OTHER INFORMATION AND ATTRIBUTES:
- Must be available to work nights and/or weekends
- Must be able/willing to perform in fast paced environment
- Must be able/willing to attain a Class E Driver’s License
- Must be able/willing to attain AED, First Aid, CPR, and Lifeguard Certifications
