 Position Title:  Assist. /Assoc. Professor of Biology            

Position Accountable To:  Dr. Grant Swicegood

 GENERAL SUMMARY: Full-time tenure-track Assist. /Assoc. Professor in Biology beginning August 2025 on the Fayette Campus. 

 PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary teaching responsibility for this position will be Introductory Biology courses such as Biodiversity, and upper-level courses in Animal Behavior, Mammalogy and Environmental Policy.  Candidates must show evidence of a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching with the ability to do research with undergraduate students and actively engage students in and out of the classroom.  Other activities that further the mission of the university, including committee service and academic advising are expected.  The Stephens Museum of Natural History is located on Campus and the Besgrove-Hodge Wildlife Sanctuary is just outside of town. Both are important assets for CMU that support student learning in these and other biology courses.  Applicants with experience and interest in helping with the curation and management of these assets are urged to apply. 

 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS: M.S. in Biology or closely related field is required. Ph.D. is preferred. ABD near completion will also be considered. 

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to stand or sit for the duration of the class.

Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs
